I think at one time bricks must have been the way to go, so to speak. And you are right, they used to be used everywhere and now, here where I live, they cost way too much so vinyl siding had replaced them in many new homes.
That must be a pretty old pave walk, isn't it!?
This pave wlk dates from the building of the canal in 17th century.
